Leaving the United States for a life abroad was always a lifelong dream. Yet, the question of a potential return to the United States still lingers. Since my departure in January 2024, close friends have consistently inquired about the possibility of my return to the United States. After considerable thought and given my fondness for travel, I have now considered returning to the United States one day. This perspective stems from realizing that, regardless of where you're in the world, the United States is home, and it always will be. Living abroad has significantly altered my perspectives on many issues, which I will discuss in future blogs. This marks my longest time away from the United States. I have been very content with my life in Cambodia, where self-employment as an online English Tutor is fulfilling, and traditional teaching roles in Cambodian schools were consciously dismissed. My personal and professional growth continues to grow as I have spent the last four months in Cambodia. As I began reflecting on life and pursuing childhood dreams, I highlighted the importance of home, regardless of one's location. The journey is perceived as an honor, as I am the first in my family to make such a significant move. If the right opportunities arise, a return to the United States might be considered, potentially involving alternating periods of residence between the United States and another selected country. The aspiration to live abroad brought peace of mind and dispelled any lingering negative perceptions about my previous life in the United States.
